Indulge in the rich and creamy flavors of Tiramisu Hot Chocolate, a decadent twist on the classic Italian dessert. This luscious beverage combines smooth mascarpone cream, intense dark chocolate, and a hint of espresso, topped with a dusting of cocoa powder and ladyfingers for an irresistible treat perfect for cozy moments.

Ingredients

Mascarpone Cream

  • 100 g mascarpone cheese (cold)
  • 100 g whipping cream (cold)
  • 25 g powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Hot Chocolate

  • 470 g milk
  • 280 g whipping cream or heavy cream
  • 150 g dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder

To Serve

  • Ladyfingers (for dipping and garnish)
  • Cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Mascarpone Cream: In a small mixing bowl, combine the cold mascarpone cheese, cold whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer, whip the mixture until soft peaks form. Set aside in the refrigerator to keep chilled.
  2. Heat Milk and Cream: Pour the milk and additional whipping or heavy cream into a small saucepan. Cover and heat over low to medium heat until the mixture just reaches a simmer. Avoid boiling to preserve the creaminess.
  3. Melt Chocolate and Add Espresso: Remove the pan from heat and add the finely chopped dark or semi-sweet chocolate along with the instant espresso powder. Let sit for 1 to 2 minutes to soften, then stir gently until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Serve Hot Chocolate: Pour the hot chocolate mixture into mugs while still hot, as it will thicken upon cooling. Top each serving with a generous dollop of the prepared mascarpone cream.
  5. Garnish: Using a fine mesh sieve, dust cocoa powder over the mascarpone cream for an elegant finish. Serve with ladyfingers on the side or placed delicately on top for dipping and added texture.

Notes

  • Use cold mascarpone and whipping cream to achieve the best whipped texture for the mascarpone cream.
  • Do not let the milk and cream mixture boil; simmer gently to maintain a creamy consistency.
  • Espresso powder enhances the tiramisu flavor, but you can adjust the amount to your taste preferences.
  • Ladyfingers can be served on the side or gently dipped briefly into the hot chocolate before eating.
  • For a thicker hot chocolate, use cream with higher fat content or increase the chocolate quantity slightly.
