Apple Pie Bubble Up is an easy and delightful dessert that combines the warm flavors of apple pie filling, cinnamon rolls, and rich cream into a gooey, comforting treat. Perfect for sharing, this recipe transforms canned cinnamon rolls and apple pie filling into a crowd-pleasing baked dessert, topped with sweet icing.

Ingredients

Apple Mixture

  • 1 (21 oz) can Lucky Leaf Apple Fruit Filling
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Cinnamon Rolls

  • 2 (8 count) cans cinnamon rolls

Topping

  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Icing from the cinnamon roll cans (reserved)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking during baking.
  2. Mix apple filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the apple pie filling, brown sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly to blend these ingredients well and set the mixture aside.
  3. Prepare cinnamon rolls: Open the two cans of cinnamon rolls and reserve the icing packets for later use. Cut each cinnamon roll into 4 equal pieces, then add these pieces to the apple mixture. Gently mix to coat the cinnamon roll pieces with the apple filling mixture.
  4. Assemble and bake: Transfer the combined mixture evenly into the prepared 9×13 baking pan. Drizzle the heavy whipping cream over the top to enrich the dessert. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes until it is bubbly and golden brown on top.
  5. Finish and serve: Remove the pan from the oven and let the dessert sit for about 5 minutes to set slightly. Drizzle the reserved cinnamon roll icing over the top before serving to add a sweet finishing touch.

Notes

  • This dessert is best served warm for the fullest flavor experience.
  • You can substitute the apple pie filling with another fruit filling like cherry or peach for variation.
  • Use full-fat heavy whipping cream for a richer texture; lighter creams can be used but may alter the creaminess.
  • Make sure to cut the cinnamon rolls into small pieces so they cook evenly and mix well with the filling.
  • Letting the dessert rest after baking helps the flavors meld and makes serving easier.
