Watermelon Fries are a fun and refreshing summer snack made by slicing watermelon into fry-like sticks and served with a sweet vanilla yogurt dip blended with fresh strawberries and honey. This light and healthy recipe is quick to prepare, perfect for a healthy party treat or a cool snack on a warm day.

Ingredients

Watermelon Fries

  • 1 Half of a Large Watermelon
  • Use a crinkle cutter for cutting fries shape

Vanilla Yogurt Dip

  • ½ cup Vanilla Yogurt
  • 1 cup Strawberries (stems and leaves removed)
  • 1 tablespoon Honey

Instructions

  1. Slice the Watermelon: Cut the watermelon in half, then slice each half into round discs about 1/2 inch thick to create the base for the fries.
  2. Create Semi-Circle Halves: Cut across the middle of each round disc to produce two semi-circular halves, making them easier to work with for fry shapes.
  3. Cut Watermelon Fries: Using a crinkle cutter, cut along each semi-circle half from one side to the other to form crinkle-cut watermelon fries.
  4. Trim Excess Rind: Remove any excess rind from the watermelon fries and add it to your compost or discard accordingly.
  5. Prepare Yogurt Dip: Place the vanilla yogurt, fresh strawberries, and honey into a blender for the dipping sauce.
  6. Blend Ingredients: Blend the ingredients on low speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  7. Adjust Sweetness: Taste the yogurt dip and add more honey if you prefer a sweeter dip, blending again briefly to combine.
  8. Serve: Serve the watermelon fries chilled with the strawberry vanilla yogurt dip on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Use a very sharp crinkle cutter for clean cuts and easy shaping of watermelon fries.
  • Keep the watermelon chilled before serving for maximum refreshment.
  • You can substitute plain yogurt for vanilla yogurt if preferred, and add a little vanilla extract for flavor.
  • Adjust honey amount in the dip to suit your sweetness preference.
  • This snack is best eaten fresh to avoid the watermelon fries becoming soggy.
