This easy-to-make recipe is ideal for gatherings and patriotic holidays, combining the crisp sweetness of a baked sugar cookie with creamy and fresh fruit toppings.

Ingredients

Cookie Base

  • 1 17.5 ounce package refrigerated sugar cookie dough

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 8 ounce package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Fruit and Decoration

  • Strawberries (sliced)
  • Blueberries
  • Whipped topping (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Set the oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to get it ready for baking the sugar cookie base.
  2. Prepare the cookie dough. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Press or roll the refrigerated sugar cookie dough into a large rectangle directly on the parchment paper. Lightly use flour on your hands or rolling pin if the dough is sticky to make rolling easier.
  3. Bake the cookie. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the cookie dough for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the middle is fully cooked. Remove from the oven and allow the cookie to cool completely before decorating.
  4. Make the cream cheese frosting. In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the room temperature cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Prepare the fruit. Thoroughly wash and dry the strawberries and blueberries. Slice the strawberries thinly to use for the flag decoration.
  6. Assemble the fruit pizza. Spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the cooled sugar cookie base using a spatula or the back of a spoon. Arrange sliced strawberries and blueberries on top to create the American flag pattern as shown in the recipe image or based on your preference.
  7. Pipe the whipped topping. Fill a piping bag fitted with an open star tip with whipped topping. Pipe white stripes across the cookie to mimic the flag stripes, adding decorative texture.
  8. Chill before serving. Refrigerate the assembled fruit pizza until ready to serve. The dessert is best served immediately after chilling to enjoy the freshness of the fruit and the creaminess of the frosting.

Notes

  • Make sure the sugar cookie is completely cooled before spreading the cream cheese frosting to prevent it from melting.
  • Use fresh, firm strawberries and blueberries for best flavor and appearance.
  • For easier piping, keep the whipped topping slightly chilled but soft enough to pipe smoothly.
  • This dessert is best consumed within a few hours of assembling to maintain freshness and prevent sogginess.
  • To make cleanup easier, use parchment paper and disposable piping bags if preferred.
