This refreshing Peach Lemonade recipe combines the natural sweetness of ripe peaches with the tangy brightness of fresh lemons to create a perfect summer beverage. Made by simmering peaches and sugar into a syrup, then mixing with lemon juice and water, this homemade drink is easy to prepare and customizable to your taste, offering a delightful balance of fruity and citrus flavors.

Ingredients

Peach Syrup

  • 1.16 lb peaches, peeled and chopped (about 3 large peaches or 2 cups chopped)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar (regular granulated sugar, brown sugar, honey, or a sugar-free option like erythritol or stevia)

Lemonade

  • 1/3 cup lemon juice (from about 2 lemons)
  • 3 cups water (can be plain water, sparkling water, or coconut water)
  • Lemon slices from one lemon (for garnish)
  • Peach slices (optional garnish)
  • Mint (optional garnish)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Make the Peach Syrup: Combine the peeled and chopped peaches, 1/2 cup sugar, and 2 cups water in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar.
  2. Simmer the Peaches: Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the peaches become soft and mushy, releasing their juices.
  3. Cool and Strain: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Then strain the mixture through a fine sieve to separate the syrup, discarding the solids. You should have approximately 1 cup of peach syrup.
  4. Prepare the Lemon Juice: Juice the lemons to yield about 1/3 cup of lemon juice. Optionally zest the lemons before juicing to save for another use or garnish.
  5. Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, mix the peach syrup, lemon juice, and 3 cups of your chosen water (still, sparkling, or coconut). Stir well to combine.
  6. Taste and Adjust: Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness, tartness, or dilution by adding more syrup, lemon juice, or water to your preference.
  7. Serve: Serve the peach lemonade over ice in individual glasses to avoid watering down the entire batch. Garnish with lemon slices, peach slices, and mint if desired.
  8. Make Ahead and Storage: The peach syrup can be made several days in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The prepared lemonade can be stored in the fridge for 5 to 7 days. Replace any fresh fruit or herbs daily, and consume the batch within 1 to 2 days if fresh garnishes are added.

Notes

  • You can substitute the sugar with brown sugar, honey, or a sugar-free sweetener like erythritol or stevia based on dietary preferences.
  • Using sparkling water instead of plain water adds a festive fizz to the lemonade.
  • For a more intense peach flavor, you can leave some peach pieces in the syrup before straining.
  • Adding ice directly to individual glasses prevents the entire batch from becoming diluted.
  • Garnish with fresh mint leaves or lemon and peach slices for added aroma and presentation.
