Oven Dried Strawberries are a simple and delicious snack made by slowly dehydrating fresh strawberries in the oven until they become chewy and naturally sweet. This easy method preserves the vibrant flavor of strawberries and creates a healthy treat that can be enjoyed on its own or added to cereals, salads, and desserts.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Strawberries, washed and dried
  • Parchment Paper or Silicone Baking Mat for lining the tray

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit (90 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Slice Strawberries: Slice the strawberries evenly to about 1/8 inch thickness. Consistent slicing ensures even drying. Thicker slices will require longer drying times.
  3. Arrange Slices: Lay the strawberry slices flat on the prepared baking sheet, making sure there is space between each slice to allow air circulation.
  4. Initial Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 2 hours at 200°F (90°C) until the tops of the strawberries feel dry to the touch.
  5. Flip and Continue Baking: Carefully peel the strawberries off the parchment paper and flip them over. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour, until fully dehydrated and chewy.
  6. Cool and Store: Remove the dried strawberries from the oven and allow them to cool completely. Store in an airtight container at room temperature, where they can keep for several months.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm strawberries for the best texture and flavor.
  • Keep the oven temperature low to avoid burning and to gently dehydrate the fruit.
  • Thickness of slices affects drying time; thinner slices dry faster.
  • If you live in a humid area, consider storing in the refrigerator to prolong shelf life.
  • Use dried strawberries as a snack, or add them to breakfast bowls, trail mix, and baking recipes.
