This Mango Mousse recipe is a light, creamy dessert made with ripe mangoes, whipped cream, and optional sweeteners. It’s a quick and easy no-bake treat that’s perfect for warm weather or any time you crave a fresh, fruity dessert. The mousse is smooth and airy, garnished with nuts, fruit preserves, chocolate shavings, and mint for an elegant presentation.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 sweet, ripe medium-sized mangoes (or 1.5 cups chopped)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons raw sugar or honey (optional, adjust as per sweetness of mangoes)
  • ½ cup light cream (25% to 35% fat) or whipping cream

For Garnish

  • ¼ cup chopped mangoes
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (cashews, almonds, pistachios)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons fruit preserve
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons chocolate shavings, grated chocolate, or chocolate syrup
  • 3 to 4 mint sprigs

Instructions

  1. Prepare Mango Puree: Chop the ripe mangoes and add them to a blender. If the mangoes are not fully sweet, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of raw sugar or honey according to your taste. Blend until you achieve a smooth, fine puree. Use only sweet mangoes as sour varieties can cause stomach discomfort when mixed with cream.
  2. Whip the Cream: Pour the light or whipping cream into a bowl. Using an electric beater, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip to maintain a smooth texture.
  3. Combine Puree and Cream: Gently fold the mango puree into the whipped cream until well combined. This will give the mousse its light and airy consistency.
  4. Chill the Mousse: Spoon or pour the mango mousse into small shot glasses or bowls. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, but up to a couple of hours, to set and chill properly.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Serve the chilled mango mousse cold. Garnish with your choice of chopped mangoes, nuts, fruit preserves, chocolate shavings, and mint sprigs for added flavor and presentation.
  6. Storage: Store any leftovers in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap or in a sealed container. The mousse will keep fresh for 3 to 4 days.

Notes

  • Use only sweet and ripe mangoes for the best flavor and to avoid stomach discomfort.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar or honey depending on the natural sweetness of your mangoes.
  • Do not overwhip the cream as it can become grainy or turn into butter.
  • Serve the mousse chilled for the best texture and taste.
  • The mousse can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days if covered properly.
