This Light and Easy 5-Minute Fruit Mousse recipe is a quick and refreshing dessert that uses frozen berries whipped with an egg white and sweetener to create a smooth, fluffy mousse. Perfect for a healthy treat, it serves 4 to 6 people and can be customized with your choice of sweeteners and fresh toppings.

Ingredients

Fruit Mousse

  • 8 1/2 ounces (about 2 1/4 cups) frozen berries or other fruit
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or use honey, maple syrup, or stevia extract to taste)
  • 1 large egg white

Optional Toppings

  • Fresh berries for serving
  • Whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Puree the Fruit: Add the frozen berries or chosen fruit to the food processor bowl and process for about 1 minute until you get a rough puree.
  2. Add Sweetener: Combine the sugar or your preferred sweetener by pulsing briefly. If using a liquid sweetener or stevia extract, add it gradually to taste.
  3. Whip the Egg White: Add the large egg white to the food processor and process for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture becomes smooth, fluffy, and lightened in color, doubling or tripling in volume.
  4. Adjust Consistency: If the mousse sticks to the sides of the processor too much, transfer it to a medium-sized bowl and whisk with an electric mixer using a whisk attachment until fluffy and smooth.
  5. Serve: Spoon the mousse into serving glasses and optionally top or layer with fresh berries and whipped cream. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours.

Notes

  • This mousse contains raw egg white; for safety, consider using pasteurized egg whites although it may affect fluffiness.
  • Those at risk of foodborne illness should avoid consuming raw eggs.
  • Sweetener amounts can be adjusted or omitted to suit taste and dietary needs.
  • The mousse is not stable for long storage due to low sugar content; best eaten within 2 hours.
