Kool Aid Pickles are a fun and unexpected twist on traditional dill pickles, transforming them with a tangy, sweet, and sour flavor. This easy no-cook recipe combines classic pickle spears with flavored Kool Aid and sugar to create a vibrant, colorful, and flavorful treat that’s perfect as a quirky appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Pickle Base

  • 1 32 oz jar dill pickle spears

Pickling Mixture

  • 1 packet Kool Aid (any flavor, cherry recommended)
  • 3/4 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Drain Pickle Juice: In a large bowl, carefully drain the pickle juice from the jar of dill pickle spears and set the pickles aside in the empty jar or another container.
  2. Mix Kool Aid and Sugar: Add the Kool Aid packet and sugar to the drained pickle juice. Whisk the mixture thoroughly until the sugar and Kool Aid powder are completely dissolved, ensuring an even flavor throughout the liquid.
  3. Combine with Pickles: Pour the Kool Aid and sugar mixture back into the jar containing the pickle spears. There may be a little leftover juice which can be discarded or saved for another use.
  4. Seal and Shake: Securely seal the jar with the lid and shake vigorously to coat all pickles evenly with the sweet and tangy mixture.
  5. Refrigerate and Wait: Place the sealed jar in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days to allow the pickles to absorb the Kool Aid flavors. Shake the jar once daily during this period to redistribute the mixture for optimum flavor infusion.

Notes

  • We used cherry Kool Aid for a classic sweet and tangy flavor and appealing red color.
  • You can experiment with other Kool Aid flavors like grape or tropical punch for different taste profiles.
  • Be patient with the refrigerator time to let the flavors develop fully for the best taste experience.
