This Instant Pot Poached Egg recipe offers a simple, hands-off way to achieve perfectly poached eggs using an electric pressure cooker. By cooking eggs in mason jars with minimal water and a few minutes under pressure, you get tender whites and creamy yolks without the fuss of traditional stovetop poaching.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray, as needed
  • 1 room temperature egg

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mason Jar: Spray the inside of a mason jar lightly with cooking spray to prevent the egg from sticking. Crack a room temperature egg carefully into the jar.
  2. Set up Instant Pot: Place the rack inside the Instant Pot to hold the jars securely and make removal easier. Pour 1 cup of tap water into the pot.
  3. Pressure Cook the Egg: Place the mason jar with the egg onto the rack inside the Instant Pot. Seal the lid and set the pressure release valve to sealing. Set the Instant Pot to manual pressure cooking for 3, 4, or 5 minutes depending on your desired yolk consistency.
  4. Release Pressure and Remove Egg: When the cooking time is complete, perform a quick pressure release. Carefully remove the hot mason jar using oven gloves, then gently flip the jar upside down to release the poached egg onto a plate or toast.

Notes

  • Cook time can be adjusted: 3 minutes for very soft yolk, 5 minutes for firmer yolk.
  • Using room temperature eggs helps achieve even cooking.
  • Be cautious when handling hot jars to avoid burns.
  • You can poach multiple eggs at once by using multiple jars on the rack if your Instant Pot is large enough.
