Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • ⅔ cup uncooked rice (about 2 cups cooked)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ pound ground turkey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1.5 tablespoons less sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste or minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce

Optional Garnishes

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped peanuts
  • Chili oil
  • Hot sauce
  • Sliced green onion
  • Sliced chili pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook rice: Prepare the rice according to the package instructions until fluffy and fully cooked. Set aside.
  2. Cook ground turkey: Heat olive oil in a 10-inch or 12-inch cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and break it into small pieces. Stir occasionally and cook until fully cooked through, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. Add seasonings: Stir in minced garlic, soy sauce, ginger paste, chili paste, sesame oil, and fish sauce into the cooked turkey. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes to blend the flavors well.
  4. Assemble bowls: Divide the cooked rice between two bowls. Top each bowl with the seasoned ground turkey mixture.
  5. Add garnishes and serve: Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds, chopped peanuts, chili oil, hot sauce, sliced green onions, or sliced chili peppers as desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
