These fudgy football brownies are a perfect treat for game day or any occasion, featuring a rich, moist brownie base topped with a smooth chocolate ganache and decorated with white chocolate to resemble footballs. Made from a boxed brownie mix enhanced with coffee and a decadent ganache, they are easy to prepare yet impressive in presentation.

Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 1 box brownie mix
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/3 cup hot coffee
  • 1 egg

Ganache Topping

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream

Decoration

  • 1/3 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside. For thicker brownies, consider using an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch pan and adjust baking times accordingly.
  2. Mix Brownie Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the brownie mix, oil, hot coffee, and egg until all ingredients are fully combined and smooth.
  3. Bake Brownies: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Once done, remove and allow the brownies to cool completely.
  4. Cut into Football Shapes: Using a football-shaped cookie cutter (small or large as preferred), cut the cooled brownies into football shapes. If the brownies are too soft to handle, place them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and freeze for 10-15 minutes to firm up.
  5. Prepare Chocolate Ganache: In a medium bowl, place the chocolate chips and pour the hot heavy cream over them. The cream should be heated for 30-45 seconds in the microwave—hot but not boiling. Cover the bowl and let it sit for a few minutes to melt the chocolate.
  6. Whisk Ganache: After sitting, whisk the chocolate and cream mixture until smooth and glossy to create the ganache.
  7. Dip Brownies: Dip the top of each football-shaped brownie into the warm chocolate ganache, then place them back on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat for all brownies. Refrigerate the brownies while melting the white chocolate chips.
  8. Melt White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring between each until fully melted and smooth to avoid burning.
  9. Decorate Footballs: Transfer the melted white chocolate into a piping bag or a ziplock bag with the tip cut off. Pipe football stitching and details onto each brownie to mimic the look of real footballs.
  10. Set and Serve: Place the decorated brownies in the refrigerator to set the ganache and white chocolate before serving. Enjoy your fudgy football brownies chilled.

Notes

  • Using hot coffee enhances the chocolate flavor in the brownies without adding a strong coffee taste.
  • Freezing brownies before decorating helps make cutting and dipping easier and neater.
  • If you don’t have a football-shaped cookie cutter, you can cut rectangles and decorate them similarly.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep ganache and decoration firm.
  • For a thicker ganache, you can reduce the heavy cream slightly.
