This Easy Whipped Cream Recipe, also known as Chantilly Cream, is a smooth, silky, and stiff whipped topping made from cold heavy cream and mascarpone cheese, sweetened with powdered sugar and flavored with vanilla bean paste or extract. It’s perfect for topping pies, cakes, and desserts with a luxurious texture and light sweetness.

Ingredients

Whipped Cream

  • 250 g heavy cream (cold)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
  • 250 g mascarpone cheese (cold)
  • 40 g powdered sugar (sifted)

Instructions

  1. Prepare mascarpone cheese: Add the mascarpone cheese to a large mixing bowl, preferably glass or metal. Use a spatula to stir and gently break it up as some brands may be firmer than others. This step helps avoid lumps in your whipped cream.
  2. Whip ingredients together: Add the cold heavy cream, sifted powdered sugar, and vanilla bean paste or extract to the mascarpone. Using an electric hand mixer, stand mixer with whisk attachment, or hand whisk, whip the mixture until stiff peaks form. The whipped cream should hold its shape but still look silky and smooth. Avoid overwhipping to prevent a split or grainy texture.
  3. Use your whipped cream: Spoon the whipped cream over pies or desserts, or pipe it decoratively using a piping bag fitted with a star tip for an elegant presentation.

Notes

  • Ensure all dairy ingredients are cold before whipping to achieve the best texture.
  • Sift the powdered sugar to avoid lumps in the whipped cream.
  • You can substitute vanilla bean paste with vanilla extract if desired.
  • Whipping by hand provides better control over the texture but requires more effort.
  • Stop whipping once stiff peaks form to maintain a smooth consistency and avoid curdling.
