These refreshing Cucumber Cream Cheese Canapés are a light and elegant appetizer perfect for parties or casual gatherings. Crisp cucumber slices topped with a creamy, flavorful mixture of cream cheese, mayonnaise, fresh dill, and aromatic spices create a delicious bite-sized treat that’s both easy to prepare and visually appealing.

Ingredients

For the Canapés

  • 1 large English cucumber, sliced 1/4-inch thick (about 48 slices)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill, plus extra for garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (finely minced or grated)
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt (plus more to taste)
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper (plus more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cucumber Slices: Slice the English cucumber into 1/4-inch thick rounds and arrange the slices neatly on a serving platter.
  2. Mix the Cream Cheese Filling: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, chopped fresh dill, garlic powder, onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly using a fork; if the cream cheese is too firm, use hand mixer beaters to blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pipe the Filling: Transfer the cream cheese mixture into a plastic storage or piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe the mixture decoratively onto each cucumber slice.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Garnish each canapé with a small sprig of fresh dill and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • For easier spreading, ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing.
  • You can substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, particularly salt and pepper.
  • Serve immediately to prevent cucumber slices from becoming soggy.
  • These canapés are best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 2 hours before serving.
