These easy Coconut Macaroon Blossoms are a delightful twist on a timeless classic, combining the chewy, sweet texture of coconut macaroons with rich chocolate Hershey’s Kisses in the center. Naturally gluten-free and made with just a handful of simple ingredients, these cookies are perfect for Christmas or any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Macaroon Mixture

  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 14 oz sweetened shredded coconut

Topping

  • 36 Hershey Kisses

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt until fully combined for a smooth base.
  3. Fold in Coconut: Gently fold the shredded coconut into the wet mixture to ensure even distribution without breaking down the coconut.
  4. Form Balls: Using wet hands, scoop the mixture and roll it into 1-inch balls, rinsing hands as needed to prevent sticking.
  5. Create Wells: Place the coconut balls on the prepared baking sheet, then press down lightly in the center of each ball with a small measuring spoon or the end of a wooden spoon to create a small well for the chocolate.
  6. Bake: Bake the macaroons for 15 to 17 minutes, or until they are just golden brown on the edges, indicating they are set.
  7. Add Chocolate: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately press one Hershey Kiss into the center of each macaroon to form the blossom.
  8. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool for 10 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  9. Store: Store the cookies loosely covered at room temperature for up to one week to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • For a less gooey texture, you can omit up to 3 tablespoons of the sweetened condensed milk from the recipe; the omitted condensed milk makes a great addition to coffee as a creamer.
  • Use wet hands when shaping the macaroons to prevent sticking and ensure smooth, even balls.
  • Make sure to press the Hershey Kiss into the macaroons immediately after baking to avoid cracking.
  • These cookies are naturally gluten-free, but always check labels to ensure all ingredients comply with dietary restrictions.
