This Baked Yogurt recipe offers a creamy, custard-like dessert that combines the tangy richness of Greek yogurt with the natural sweetness of maple syrup and fresh berries. Perfectly baked to a smooth, set texture, it’s a wholesome treat ideal for breakfasts, snacks, or a light dessert.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

Fruit

  • 1 1/2 cups berries (divided)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oven and Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch square baking dish with parchment paper. This ensures an easy release after baking.
  2. Mix Base Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine Greek yogurt, eggs, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and uniform in texture.
  3. Add Cornstarch: Add cornstarch to the yogurt mixture and whisk again until well incorporated to help thicken the custard while baking.
  4. Incorporate Berries: Gently fold in 1 cup of the berries into the yogurt mixture, being careful not to crush them.
  5. Assemble in Baking Dish: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and evenly sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of berries on top for a colorful finish.
  6. Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 45 minutes or until the center of the yogurt custard is set and no longer jiggly when shaken gently.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and allow the baked yogurt to cool nearly completely. Cut into 9 equal slices and serve plain or drizzle with additional maple syrup if desired.

Notes

  • Use full-fat Greek yogurt for creamier texture and richer flavor.
  • Maple syrup can be substituted with honey or agave nectar depending on your preference.
  • Ensure the yogurt mixture is well whisked to avoid lumps before baking.
  • Allow the baked yogurt to cool to avoid it breaking apart when sliced.
  • This dish can be served warm or chilled, depending on taste preference.
