White Chocolate Bark is a simple and delightful treat made by melting white chocolate and mixing it with your favorite fillings, then chilling it until set. This versatile recipe allows for endless variations with nuts, dried fruit, and toppings, perfect for a quick, homemade dessert or snack that melts in your mouth with creamy sweetness.

Ingredients

White Chocolate

  • 16 ounces (340 grams) white chocolate chips, bar or wafers

Optional Fillings

  • 3/4 cups (100130 grams) roasted nuts, dried fruit, or others of your choice

Optional Toppings

  • Sprinkling or handful of toppings like toasted coconut, skor bits, crushed peppermint candies, festive sprinkles, lemon/lime/orange zest, or sea salt

Optional Flavorings

  • A couple of drops of flavored extracts such as vanilla, peppermint, orange, or rum

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan: Line a large baking sheet with parchment or wax paper to prevent sticking and make removal easy.
  2. Melt White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate melts smoothly and is spreadable.
  3. Stir in Fillings (if using): Mix in your chosen nuts, dried fruit, or other fillings along with any flavor extracts. For peppermint bark, skip this step.
  4. Spread Out Mixture: Pour the melted chocolate mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly to about 1/4 inch (64 mm) thickness with a spatula.
  5. Add Toppings (optional): Sprinkle your desired toppings over the spread chocolate, pressing gently to adhere. Optionally, add a light dusting of fine sea salt for extra flavor.
  6. Chill and Break Into Pieces: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and chill for 20-30 minutes until fully hardened. Break chocolate bark into pieces and enjoy.

Notes

  • Chocolate: Recommended brands include Ghirardelli classic white baking chips, Callebaut Belgian white chocolate, Ghirardelli white melting wafers, Guittard, and Toll House white chocolate chips. Dark, milk, or semi-sweet chocolate can be used as a substitute.
  • Fillings: Nut options include almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, or pecans. To roast nuts: spread in a single layer on a baking pan and roast at 350°F (177°C) for 5-7 minutes until fragrant. Cool and chop. Dried fruits can include cranberries, raisins, apricots, or cherries. Other fillings like crushed pretzels or Oreo cookie bits add texture.
  • Toppings: Choose to sprinkle reserved nuts or dried fruits, toasted coconut, skor bits, crushed peppermint candies, festive sprinkles (holiday themed), citrus zests, or sea salt.
  • Flavorings: Enhance the flavor by adding a couple of drops of extracts such as vanilla, peppermint, orange, or rum before spreading.
