Warm Cinnamon Milk Tea with Lavender is a cozy and aromatic beverage combining the soothing flavors of cinnamon, lavender, and vanilla with creamy milk and a touch of honey. Perfect for chilly days, this simple tea can be prepared in about 20 minutes, making a delightful drink for two.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 500 ml (2 cups) filtered water
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tsp lavender buds

Milk Mixture

  • 280 ml (1 ¼ cups) milk
  • 1 tbsp honey, or to taste
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract (optional)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon, plus more for topping

Instructions

  1. Infuse the Cinnamon and Lavender: In a medium saucepan, combine the cinnamon sticks, lavender buds, and filtered water. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to maintain a gentle simmer and let it infuse for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend thoroughly.
  2. Add Milk and Flavorings: Lower the heat to medium-low. Stir in the milk, honey, vanilla bean paste (if using), and ground cinnamon. Mix well to incorporate all ingredients evenly, infusing the milk with the warm spices.
  3. Heat the Milk Tea: Slowly bring the mixture back up to a warm drinkable temperature, stirring constantly to prevent the milk from scorching or boiling. Remove the saucepan from heat just before it starts to simmer to preserve the creamy texture.
  4. Strain and Serve: Carefully remove the cinnamon sticks. Pour the milk tea through a fine mesh sieve into cups to strain out the lavender buds and any spice residues, ensuring a smooth drink. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon on top of each cup for an extra touch of aroma and flavor, then serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute any type of milk based on preference, including dairy-free alternatives like almond or oat milk.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to your desired sweetness or replace it with another sweetener.
  • Be careful not to let the milk mixture boil as it may curdle or scorch.
  • This tea is best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated gently on the stovetop.
  • For a stronger lavender flavor, increase the lavender buds slightly but avoid overpowering the cinnamon.
