Ingredients

Bread and Butter

  • 2 Hot dog buns
  • 1 tbsp Butter

Salmon and Toppings

  • 200 g Salmon (thinly sliced)
  • Salt (to your taste)
  • 1 cup Lettuce (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Chive (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Tobiko

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the buns: Cut the hot dog buns lengthwise using a serrated bread knife. Spread butter evenly inside each bun to ensure a rich, crispy toast later.
  2. Toast the buns: Place the buttered sides of the buns onto a heated pan. Toast them for a few minutes until they turn golden brown and crispy. Once toasted, set the buns aside.
  3. Season and broil salmon: Sprinkle the thinly sliced salmon with salt to taste. Using a kitchen torch, broil the surface of the salmon until it caramelizes slightly, adding a smoky flavor and appealing texture.
  4. Prepare spicy mayo: Mix mayonnaise and sriracha sauce thoroughly until well combined. Transfer this spicy mayo into a piping bag for precise and decorative application.
  5. Assemble the sandwich: Lay a bed of chopped lettuce inside the toasted bun, then carefully place the broiled salmon on top. Pipe the spicy mayo in a zig-zag pattern over the salmon for a beautiful and tasty finish.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle tobiko and chopped chive over the sandwich for bursts of color and flavor just before serving.
  7. Enjoy: Serve immediately and savor your Tobiko Salmon Sandwich.

Notes

  • You can substitute hot dog buns with brioche or sandwich rolls for different textures.
  • If you do not have a kitchen torch, briefly sear the salmon in a hot pan but avoid overcooking.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha in the sauce for your preferred spice level.
  • Use fresh salmon for the best flavor and texture.
  • To make it gluten-free, opt for gluten-free buns.
