The Easiest Lasagna Recipe Ever is a quick and simple version of the classic comfort food, delivering the same delicious layers of flavor without the long preparation time.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

9 lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular)

16 oz ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

1 tablespoon dried basil

1 tablespoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the diced onion and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes, then remove from heat.
  4. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a third of the ricotta mixture, a third of the meat sauce, and a third of the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  7. Repeat the layering process two more times, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.

Notes

  • If you want a vegetarian version, swap the ground beef for sautéed vegetables like mushrooms, zucchini, and spinach.
  • To add a spicy kick, include red pepper flakes in the sauce.
  • This recipe can be made gluten-free by using gluten-free lasagna noodles and ensuring the marinara sauce is gluten-free.
  • Feel free to use different cheeses like provolone, gouda, or even a mix of ricotta and cottage cheese.
  • The lasagna can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • If freezing, assemble the lasagna and freeze it unbaked. When ready, bake from frozen at 375°F for about 60 minutes.
