Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled until opaque
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1 egg yolk, room temperature

Add-ins:

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the sugars and butter: In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for 2 minutes.
  2. Mix in the wet ingredients: Add vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk; whisk until light and creamy.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: Add flour, baking soda, corn starch, and salt; mix until just combined.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips: Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Chill the dough: Scoop out dough, roll into balls, place on a baking sheet, and chill for 1 hour in the fridge or 30 minutes in the freezer.
  6. Preheat and bake: Preheat oven to 325°F. Place cookie dough on a lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden.
  7. Cool and store: Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
