Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats offer a delightful twist on the classic dessert, combining the sweet richness of caramel with a hint of sea salt for an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

4 cups Rice Krispies cereal

1 cup unsalted butter

1 bag (14 oz) caramel candies

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the caramel candies and heavy cream. Stir continuously until the caramel is fully melted and smooth.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt.
  3. Add the Rice Krispies cereal and mini marshmallows to the saucepan, stirring gently to combine until the cereal is evenly coated with the caramel mixture.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Press the mixture down gently with a spatula to form an even layer.
  5. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour, or until they are firm enough to cut into squares.
  6. Once cooled, cut the Rice Krispie treats into squares and serve.

Notes

  • For a chocolate drizzle, melt some chocolate and drizzle it on top of the treats.
  • For a nutty twist, add chopped nuts like pecans or almonds to the mixture.
  • To make it vegan, substitute dairy-free butter and caramel candies.
  • If using salted butter, adjust the amount of sea salt accordingly.
