Ingredients

For the Meatloaf:

  • 2 lb (1 kg) ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 small onion, quartered
  • ⅓ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • ½ green bell pepper
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • Salt, to taste

For the Mushroom Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 oz (250 g) brown mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (500 ml) beef broth
  • ¾ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. For the Salisbury Steak Meatloaf: Preheat the oven and prepare the loaf pan. Blend onion, garlic, bell pepper, and parsley. Mix the vegetables with ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, marinara sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and salt. Transfer to the loaf pan and bake. Let it rest before slicing.
  2. For the Mushroom Gravy: Heat oil, cook onions until golden, add mushrooms and garlic, then sprinkle in flour. Gradually add broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook until thickened. Garnish with parsley.
