This Hibiscus Tea Strawberry-Lemonade Refresher is a vibrant, naturally flavored drink combining the tartness of hibiscus tea and lemon with the sweetness of strawberries and maple syrup. It’s a refreshing and healthy beverage perfect for warm days or any time you need a revitalizing drink.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 hibiscus tea bags (OR 2 tablespoons of dried hibiscus flowers)

Fruit & Sweetener

  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 23 tablespoons maple syrup (adjust to taste)

Optional Toppings

  • Extra sliced strawberries
  • Lemon slices
  • Fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare Hibiscus Tea: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a tea kettle. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the hibiscus tea bags or dried hibiscus flowers. Steep for 5-7 minutes depending on desired strength. Remove tea bags or strain out flowers and let the tea cool.
  2. Make Strawberry Puree: Wash and slice the strawberries. Add them to a blender along with 1/4 cup of the cooled hibiscus tea. Blend until smooth. Optionally, strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag for a smoother texture.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, combine the remaining cooled hibiscus tea, strawberry puree, lemon juice, and maple syrup. Stir well to combine. Adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more maple syrup or lemon juice as desired.
  4. Serve: Pour the refresher over ice and garnish with extra sliced strawberries, lemon slices, and fresh mint leaves if using. Enjoy immediately for the freshest flavor.

Notes

  • To substitute maple syrup, honey or agave syrup can be used for similar sweetness.
  • Adjust steeping time of hibiscus tea to control the tartness and strength of flavor.
  • Straining the strawberry puree creates a smoother texture but can be skipped for more fiber and body.
  • This drink is best served fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
