This fun and festive Pop It Candy recipe is a delightful chocolate treat perfect for kids and Valentine’s Day gifts. Using silicone Pop It molds, colorful candy melts, and Valentine’s Day themed M&M’s, you create charming heart-shaped chocolates filled with colorful accents, making it a must-make homemade sweet treat that’s both visually appealing and delicious.

Ingredients

Chocolate Candy

  • Pink, Red, or Purple Candy Melts (or any preferred color) – amount as needed for melting
  • Valentine’s Day M&M’s – about 1 bag for decorating

Optional Ingredients

  • Chocolate Chips or chopped chocolate – amount as needed for melting (if not using candy melts)
  • 1 teaspoon shortening (if melting chocolate chips)

Tools

  • Heart Shaped Silicone Pop It Mold
  • Piping bag or resealable plastic bag for piping melted chocolate

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pop It Mold: Thoroughly wash and dry your silicone Pop It mold. This step is crucial to ensure no plastic taste or debris transfers to the chocolate later.
  2. Melt the Candy Melts: Following the package instructions, melt your chosen candy melts until smooth. Transfer the melted chocolate into a piping bag or resealable plastic bag for precise filling.
  3. Fill the Mold: Pipe the melted chocolate into each section of the Pop It mold carefully, ensuring all cavities are filled evenly.
  4. Set the Chocolate: Allow the chocolate to fully harden and set in the mold. This may take 30 minutes to an hour depending on room temperature.
  5. Remove from Mold: Gently flex the silicone mold to release the solidified chocolate shapes without breaking.
  6. Attach M&M Decorations: Melt additional candy melts as before, and use this melted chocolate as edible glue. Dab a small amount onto each cavity’s M&M placement spot, then carefully press an M&M candy onto each spot.
  7. Final Setting: Let the decorated chocolates sit until the ‘glue’ has completely set, securing all M&M’s in place.
  8. Serve or Gift: Package your Pop It chocolates as gifts or serve to enjoy this festive Valentine’s Day treat!

Notes

  • Any silicone Pop It mold shape and color can be used, making this versatile for any occasion.
  • Do not add food coloring directly to white chocolate as it tends to seize; opt for pre-colored candy melts instead.
  • If using chocolate chips, temper carefully or add 1 teaspoon of shortening to ensure proper setting and easy mold release.
  • Ensure the mold is completely dry before filling to avoid texture issues with chocolate.
  • Let the chocolates fully set at room temperature or refrigerate briefly for faster results.
