This easy and healthy homemade pizza sauce is bursting with fresh flavors and made from natural ingredients. It’s rich, slightly tangy, and full of savory goodness, making it the perfect base for your pizza creations.

Ingredients

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional, for sweetness)

1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley (optional for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir the spices for 1-2 minutes to bring out the flavors.
  3. Pour in the tomato sauce and tomato paste. Stir to combine everything well.
  4. Allow the sauce to simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. The sauce should thicken and become rich and fragrant.
  5. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can blend it for a few seconds using an immersion blender.
  6. Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool slightly before spreading it onto your pizza dough.

Notes

  • For a spicier sauce, add red pepper flakes or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • If you prefer a smoky flavor, stir in a little smoked paprika or use fire-roasted tomatoes.
  • The sauce can also be used for pasta dishes for a fresh, flavorful twist.
  • Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat by microwaving or warming over medium heat on the stovetop.
