Ingredients

8 chicken drumsticks

1/2 cup mayonnaise or sour cream

1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix

1 1/2 cups crushed ranch-flavored chips or panko breadcrumbs

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  3. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise or sour cream with the ranch seasoning mix and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Dip each drumstick into the ranch mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  5. Roll the coated drumstick in the crushed ranch-flavored chips or panko breadcrumbs until evenly covered.
  6. Place the breaded drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the coating is golden brown.
  8. Optional: For extra crispiness, broil the drumsticks for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicy version, add cayenne pepper or chili powder to the ranch mixture.
  • Mix grated Parmesan cheese into the coating for a cheesy flavor.
  • Use gluten-free panko or crackers for a gluten-free option.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 months.
  • Reheat in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes to maintain crispiness.
  • Boneless chicken can be used with adjusted cooking time.
  • Using a wire rack promotes even cooking and crispiness but is optional.
