A perfect dessert for any occasion, its simple ingredients and comforting flavor will bring nostalgic memories to life. Ideal for family gatherings, dinner parties, or just a quiet afternoon treat.

Ingredients

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

3 large eggs, beaten

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups whole milk

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare your 9-inch pie crust in a pie pan, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides. Trim and crimp the edges, then set aside.

  2. Prepare the Custard Filling
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs, sugar, and salt until frothy. Stir in vanilla extract and milk, mixing until smooth.

  3. Assemble the Pie
Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust. Lightly sprinkle the top with ground nutmeg.

  4. Bake the Pie
Place the pie on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the custard is set (it should jiggle slightly in the center, but not be liquidy). If the crust browns too quickly, cover the edges with foil to prevent burning.

  5. Cool and Serve
Once done, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack to allow the custard to set. Once cooled, slice and serve plain or with whipped cream.
