A quick and easy Microwave Cookie in a Mug recipe that yields a warm, soft, and delicious single-serving cookie in just minutes. Perfect for satisfying your cookie craving without needing to bake a whole batch, this recipe uses simple pantry ingredients and a microwave to deliver a fresh cookie experience instantly.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp salted butter
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp milk, half & half, or one egg yolk*

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp white sugar
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour

Add-ins

  • 2 Tbsp chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbsp chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter: Place 1 tablespoon of salted butter into a microwave-safe mug and microwave for about 20-30 seconds until mostly melted. It’s okay if some butter remains unmelted.
  2. Mix Ingredients: Add white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, milk (or half & half, or egg yolk), all-purpose flour, chocolate chips, and optional chopped nuts to the melted butter in the mug. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined into a smooth batter.
  3. Microwave Cook: Microwave the mug cookie batter on high for 1 minute. The cookie should appear set, not shiny, and slightly soft in the center. The center will continue cooking as it cools, so avoid overcooking. You may need to adjust the timing slightly depending on your microwave and mug size.
  4. Note Your Timing: After your first try, note the exact microwave time that works best for you to achieve the perfect texture.
  5. Enjoy Immediately: Eat the cookie straight from the mug while warm for best taste and texture, as it does not keep well or reheat effectively.

Notes

  • The egg yolk is optional and can be used as a substitute for milk or half & half.
  • Microwave times may vary based on wattage; adjust accordingly to avoid overcooking.
  • Chopped nuts can be omitted or substituted with your preferred mix-ins.
  • Best enjoyed immediately; leftovers do not reheat well.
