Jalapeño Popper Puff Pastry Twists are crispy, cheesy, and spicy snacks perfect for parties or gatherings. These twists feature a creamy blend of cream cheese, cheddar, and fresh jalapeños sandwiched between layers of flaky puff pastry, baked to golden perfection, and served with a tangy, cool ranch-style dip made from sour cream, mayonnaise, herbs, and garlic.

Ingredients

Puff Pastry Twists

  • 2 Sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 oz Cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack)
  • 23 Fresh jalapenos (seeds removed and finely diced; use pickled for a milder flavor)
  • 2 Green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 Egg (beaten)
  • 1 tbsp Everything bagel seasoning (or sesame seeds/parmesan for topping)

Cool Ranch-Style Dip

  • ½ cup Sour cream
  • ¼ cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Fresh lemon juice (or lime juice)
  • 1 clove Garlic (grated or finely minced)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh dill (chopped or 1 tsp dried dill)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh chives (chopped or green onion)
  • ½ tsp Onion powder
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Puff Pastry: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll each sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle, about 12×10 inches.
  2. Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, stir together the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, diced jalapeños, and green onions until well combined.
  3. Assemble: Spread the filling evenly over one sheet of puff pastry. Lay the second sheet directly on top, pressing gently to sandwich the filling.
  4. Cut & Twist: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide. Twist each strip several times and arrange on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Brush & Sprinkle: Brush each twist with the beaten egg to give them a golden, shiny finish. Sprinkle generously with everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, or grated Parmesan as preferred.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes, or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.
  7. Make the Cool Ranch-Style Dip: While the twists bake, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and garlic in a bowl. Fold in dill, chives, and onion powder. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Chill for at least 20 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a milder kick, use pickled jalapeños instead of fresh.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven for crispiness.
  • Dip can be made a day ahead and refrigerated to deepen flavors.
  • Substitute cheddar with any preferred cheese blend like Monterey Jack for different flavor profiles.
