Jalapeño Popper Puff Pastry Twists are a delicious and easy appetizer featuring flaky puff pastry filled with spicy jalapeños, creamy cream cheese, savory beef, and sharp cheddar cheese. These twists are baked until golden and served warm with ranch dressing, perfect for parties or a flavorful snack.

Ingredients

Puff Pastry

  • 12 sheets Frozen Puff Pastry, thawed

Filling

  • 3 Jalapeño Peppers, thinly sliced
  • 6 oz. Softened Cream Cheese
  • 6 strips beef, cooked and chopped
  • 8 oz Sharp Cheddar, grated

Finishing

  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • Ranch dressing for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a large sheet pan by lining it with parchment paper and lightly dusting with flour to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Place the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the prepared pan and gently roll it out to about 1/4 inch thickness to ensure even layers.
  3. Spread Cream Cheese: Evenly spread the very softened cream cheese over half of the puff pastry sheet, creating a flavorful base for the filling.
  4. Add Fillings: Distribute the thinly sliced jalapeños, half of the grated cheddar, and the chopped cooked beef over the cream cheese layer to build the spicy, cheesy filling.
  5. Seal Pastry: Fold the remaining half of the pastry sheet over the filling and gently press the edges to seal it completely, trapping the filling inside.
  6. Cut and Twist: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the folded pastry into 1/2 inch thick strips. Take each strip and twist it several times to create the puff pastry twists.
  7. Prepare for Baking: Arrange the twisted strips evenly on the baking pan, brush them with the beaten egg for a golden finish, and sprinkle the remaining grated cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake: Bake in the middle rack of the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through, until the twists turn deeply golden and puffed up.
  9. Cool and Serve: Let the puff pastry twists cool on the pan for at least 5-10 minutes before serving warm alongside ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

  • You can adjust the number of puff pastry sheets based on how many twists you want to make—use one sheet for a smaller batch or two sheets for more servings.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is very softened for easy spreading and better texture.
  • If you prefer less spice, reduce the number of jalapeños or remove the seeds before slicing.
  • Rotating the pan halfway through baking ensures even browning of the twists.
  • Serve immediately while warm for the best texture and flavor.
