This refreshing Hibiscus Tea Strawberry-Lemonade Refresher is a vibrant, tangy, and naturally sweetened beverage perfect for warm days. Combining tart hibiscus tea with fresh strawberry puree and zesty lemon juice, sweetened with maple syrup, this drink is both delicious and hydrating. It includes optional fresh fruit and mint garnishes to enhance its bright flavors.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 hibiscus tea bags (or 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers)

Fruit & Sweetener

  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 23 tablespoons maple syrup, adjust to taste

Optional Toppings

  • Extra sliced strawberries
  • Extra lemon slices
  • Fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Steep Hibiscus Tea: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a tea kettle. Remove from heat, then add the hibiscus tea bags or dried hibiscus flowers. Let steep for 5-7 minutes depending on your preferred tea strength. Remove the tea bags or strain out the flowers, and allow the tea to cool completely.
  2. Prepare Strawberry Puree: Wash and slice the strawberries. Add them to a blender together with 1/4 cup of the cooled hibiscus tea. Blend until smooth to create a strawberry puree. For a smoother texture, optionally strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, mix the remaining cooled hibiscus tea, the strawberry puree, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and maple syrup. Stir well to combine all flavors. Taste the mixture and adjust by adding more maple syrup for sweetness or more lemon juice for tartness according to your preference.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the refresher over the ice, and garnish with additional sliced strawberries, lemon slices, and fresh mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy the revitalizing drink.

Notes

  • Maple syrup can be substituted with honey or agave syrup based on preference.
  • Adjust the steeping time of hibiscus tea to control bitterness and strength.
  • Straining strawberry puree is optional but recommended for a smoother drink texture.
  • Can be served chilled or over ice for maximum refreshment.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best tart flavor; bottled lemon juice may alter taste.
