Perfect for breakfast with yogurt or milk, or as a wholesome dessert topped with vanilla ice cream, it’s a comforting and wholesome treat that balances sweetness and texture in every bite.

Ingredients

Apples

  • 6 sweet apples
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp coconut oil

Crumble

  • 2/3 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup pecans
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 tbsp water (splash)

Instructions

  1. Saute Apples: Chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Heat 2 teaspoons of coconut oil in a pan over medium-high heat, then add the apples along with 1 tablespoon cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Cover the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes to soften and infuse the apples with cinnamon flavor.
  2. Preheat Oven: While the apples are cooking, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for baking the crumble topping.
  3. Prepare Crumble Topping: Place the oats, pecans, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, and 2 teaspoons honey into a food processor. Add a splash of water (about 1 tablespoon) to help the mixture bind. Process until the mixture becomes crumbly but sticks together when pressed.
  4. Assemble Crumble: Use a small baking pan and grease it lightly or line it with parchment paper. Spread the sautéed apple mixture evenly on the bottom. Then, press the crumble mixture gently with your fingers or the back of a spoon to form larger pieces and spread these over the apples evenly.
  5. Bake: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crumble topping is golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve: Let the apple crumble cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for breakfast with milk or yogurt, or have it as a dessert topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
