This Healthy Avocado Chocolate Mousse is a creamy, guilt-free dessert blending ripe avocado, rich cocoa, and naturally sweet Medjool dates. Smooth and luscious, it’s made in minutes using a food processor, then chilled to develop a decadent texture and flavor without any refined sugars or dairy.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 6 large Medjool dates (pitted)
  • 1 medium avocado

Other Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind: dairy or plant-based)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dates and Avocado: Remove the pits from the Medjool dates and add them to a food processor along with the peeled, pitted avocado and cocoa powder. Process this mixture first to finely grind and combine. Note: Don’t add milk at this point to ensure a smooth, creamy puree.
  2. Add Remaining Ingredients: Scrape down the sides of the bowl, then add the milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Process again until the mousse is very smooth and creamy.
  3. Chill and Serve: Spoon the mousse into serving containers or bowls, cover, and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or up to two days. Chilling enhances the flavors and texture, delivering a thick, ultra-smooth mousse ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • For a lighter sweetness, you can substitute Medjool dates with Noor dates, which are smaller and less sweet.
  • Use any milk you prefer: dairy, almond, soy, or oat milk all work well.
  • Chilling the mousse is essential to develop the best texture and flavor.
  • This mousse is naturally dairy-free if using plant-based milk, and free from refined sugars.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
