Perfect for a quick 22-minute meal, they are grilled to juicy perfection and can be served with additional red onion slices for extra crunch and tang.

Ingredients

Burger Mixture

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground chicken (97/3 percent fat)
  • 1/2 cup red peppers, chopped
  • 1/3 cup red onion, diced (plus more for garnish if desired)
  • 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

To Serve

  • Sliced red onion (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped red peppers, diced red onion, crumbled feta cheese, chopped spinach, panko crumbs, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, pepper, and fresh lemon juice. Mix everything thoroughly until well incorporated.
  2. Shape Patties: Divide the mixture evenly and shape into 4 equal-sized patties, ensuring they hold together firmly for grilling.
  3. Grill Patties: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until they are cooked through, firm to the touch, and have an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  4. Serve: Remove the burgers from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes. Serve them on buns or plates, topped with additional sliced red onion if desired, and enjoy your delicious Greek chicken burgers.

Notes

  • For juicier burgers, avoid overmixing the meat mixture; mix just until combined.
  • If you don’t have a grill, you can cook the patties on a stovetop grill pan or skillet over medium heat.
  • To add more flavor, consider adding a dollop of tzatziki sauce or a slice of tomato when serving.
  • Ensure the chicken patties are cooked thoroughly to avoid any risk of foodborne illness.
  • Panko breadcrumbs help keep the patties light and add texture; if unavailable, regular breadcrumbs can be used as a substitute.
