  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ¾ cups warm water (about 110°F)

For the Garlic Parmesan Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)

To Finish:

  • Additional olive oil for greasing
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling
  • Fresh parsley or herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Stir in the olive oil and warm water. Let rise for 1 to 2 hours until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil. Transfer the dough, stretch it, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Make the Garlic Oil: Heat olive oil, add minced garlic and salt. Cook briefly, then set aside.
  4. Dimple the Dough: Press dimples into the dough. Drizzle garlic oil, sprinkle Parmesan, herbs, and sea salt.
  5. Bake the Focaccia: Bake at 425°F for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Cut into squares or strips and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use instant yeast for efficiency
  • Ensure warm water temperature is around 110°F
  • Avoid overworking the dough for a rustic texture
