A comforting one-pan meal featuring tender chicken, creamy orzo pasta, and a rich garlic butter sauce, topped with melted cheese and fresh parsley. Ready in just 30 minutes, perfect for quick and satisfying dinners.

Ingredients

1 cup orzo pasta

1 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp unsalted butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 cups chicken broth

1/2 cup milk or cream

1/2 cup shredded Parmesan or mozzarella cheese

Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season diced chicken with salt and pepper. Cook chicken until browned and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add orzo pasta to skillet and toast for 1–2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and milk (or cream). Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  5. Return cooked chicken to skillet. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and most liquid is absorbed.
  6. Reduce heat to low, stir in shredded cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and serve.

Notes

  • Vegetarian Option: Replace chicken with sautéed mushrooms or tofu.
  • Spicy Kick: Add red pepper flakes when sautéing garlic.
  • Extra Creamy: Use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Cheese Choices: Try cheddar, gouda, or cheese blends for varied flavor.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat in skillet on low, adding milk or broth if sauce is too thick.
