A quick and versatile strawberry sauce that adds fresh, fruity flavor to desserts, breakfasts, and savory dishes.

Ingredients

4 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, chopped

½ cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

4 tablespoons water, divided

1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, or until the strawberries soften.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the remaining 2 tablespoons of water with the cornstarch until smooth.
  5. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly.
  6. Continue to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  7. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool.
  8. Serve warm or refrigerate to use later.
