Ingredients

Caramel Topping

  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted or salted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup corn syrup (may substitute honey)
  • 1 ½ cups coarsely chopped pecans

Sticky Buns

  • 2 cans cinnamon rolls (8 rolls each can or larger 5 rolls per can)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray a 9×9-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the sticky buns.
  2. Make the Caramel Sauce: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium low heat. Stir in the packed brown sugar and corn syrup, bringing the mixture to a boil. Continue boiling for 1 minute while stirring constantly to thicken the caramel, then remove from heat.
  3. Assemble the Base: Pour the hot caramel sauce into the bottom of the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Sprinkle the coarsely chopped pecans evenly over the caramel layer to add a crunchy texture.
  4. Add Cinnamon Rolls: Place the cinnamon rolls into the pan on top of the pecans and caramel. If using the smaller 8-roll cans, they might be crowded; gently press them in so they fit snugly without overlapping excessively.
  5. Bake the Sticky Buns: Bake the assembled pan of sticky buns in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes. Bake until the rolls turn golden brown and are cooked through in the center.
  6. Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and allow the sticky buns to cool for a few minutes to set the caramel. Then invert the pan onto a serving platter to reveal the glossy pecan topping. Serve warm and enjoy!
