This easy cream cheese chicken recipe is a quick and delicious meal that features tender chicken breasts cooked in a creamy garlic herb sauce. The creamy sauce is made with cream cheese, garlic, and chicken broth, creating a rich and flavorful dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Cream Cheese Chicken:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (a block of Philly), softened
  • 2 large chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sauce:

  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Fresh chopped parsley, optional, to taste

Instructions

  1. Microwave the cream cheese: Soften the cream cheese until very soft. Cut it into smaller pieces and set aside.
  2. Prepare the chicken: Cut the chicken breasts in half lengthwise and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook the chicken: In a skillet, melt butter and oil over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  4. Sauté onions: Reduce heat to medium, add onions to the skillet, and sauté until softened and lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add garlic and sauce: Stir in garlic, then add chicken broth, cream cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until the sauce is smooth.
  6. Combine and serve: Return the chicken to the skillet, warm through, adjust seasoning if needed, and sprinkle with parsley before serving.
