These Easy Chocolate Crêpes are a decadent and simple twist on the classic French crêpe. Thin, tender, and infused with rich cocoa, they make a perfect dessert or indulgent breakfast with a smooth chocolate flavor and delicate texture.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup milk

1/2 cup water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, water, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, whisking continuously until you get a smooth, thin batter without lumps.
  4. Stir in the melted butter. Let the batter rest for about 15 minutes to improve texture.
  5. Heat a non-stick skillet or crêpe pan over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.
  6. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the center of the pan, tilting and swirling to spread it thinly and evenly.
  7. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the edges lift and the bottom is set. Flip carefully and cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  8. Transfer to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter, stacking the crêpes as you go.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite toppings such as powdered sugar, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or chocolate sauce.

Notes

  • Add a tablespoon of instant coffee granules to the batter for a mocha flavor.
  • Substitute some milk with orange juice for a citrus-chocolate twist.
  • Use gluten-free flour to make these crêpes gluten-free.
  • Fill with Nutella, peanut butter, or cream cheese and berries for different flavor profiles.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or chili powder for a spiced chocolate variation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel.
