This Easy Canned Tuna Pasta is a quick and flavorful meal perfect for busy weeknights. Combining al dente spaghetti with a simple garlic, lemon, and parsley tuna sauce, it’s light yet satisfying. Ready in just 15 minutes, this dish offers a delightful balance of savory and fresh flavors, making it an ideal pantry-friendly pasta recipe.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 4 ounces uncooked spaghetti pasta

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna, drained (preferably packed in oil)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti al dente according to the package instructions. While the pasta cooks, prepare the sauce ingredients.
  2. Sauté Garlic: As the pasta nears completion, heat olive oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Add Tuna and Flavorings: Stir in the drained tuna, lemon juice, and chopped parsley into the pan with garlic. Allow the mixture to heat through gently without overcooking.
  4. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Reserve a couple of tablespoons of pasta cooking water. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot or a large bowl. Add the tuna sauce and some reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce. Toss everything together to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, garnish with freshly grated parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of lemon zest before serving.

Notes

  • Using tuna packed in oil adds extra flavor, but you can use tuna in water for a lighter dish.
  • Reserve some pasta water to adjust sauce consistency and help it adhere to the pasta.
  • Fresh parsley enhances freshness, but dried parsley can be substituted in a pinch.
  • For extra brightness, add a little lemon zest when serving.
  • This recipe serves 2 but can easily be scaled up for more servings.
