This Easy Banana Cream Matcha Latte is a delightful blend of creamy banana sweetness and vibrant matcha green tea. Combining homemade banana syrup, fluffy banana cream, and frothy matcha, this latte is refreshing, naturally sweetened, and perfect for a quick, tasty treat.

Ingredients

Banana Syrup

  • ½ very ripe banana
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup sugar

Banana Cream

  • ½ very ripe banana
  • ¼ cup heavy cream

Matcha Latte

  • 1½ tsp matcha powder
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup ice
  • 12 teaspoons banana syrup (from above)

Optional Garnish

  • Banana slices
  • Cookie crumbles

Instructions

  1. Make Banana Syrup: Cut half a banana into small pieces and add to a small pot along with 1 cup water and ½ cup sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until it thickens to a syrupy consistency. Allow to cool, then strain out the solids before using.
  2. Make Banana Cream: Blend the remaining half banana until smooth and mix it with ¼ cup heavy cream. Using an electric frother or whisk, whip the mixture until it becomes soft, fluffy, and pourable, but not stiff.
  3. Whisk Matcha: Sift 1½ teaspoons of matcha powder into a matcha bowl and add ¼ cup water. Using a softened bamboo whisk or regular whisk, vigorously whisk the matcha in a zigzag motion for 10-15 seconds until a fine froth forms on top.
  4. Assemble Drink: In a tall glass, add 1 cup ice, 1-2 teaspoons banana syrup, and 1 cup milk. Slowly pour the frothy matcha over the milk, then top with the whipped banana cream. Garnish with banana slices or cookie crumbles if desired.
  5. Mix and Enjoy: Stir lightly to combine the layers and enjoy your refreshing banana cream matcha latte immediately.

Notes

  • Choose very ripe bananas for maximum natural sweetness.
  • Adjust banana syrup quantity according to your preferred sweetness.
  • Use whole milk or any plant-based milk alternative for a different flavor or dietary needs.
  • If you don’t have a matcha whisk, a small regular whisk works fine.
  • The banana cream should remain soft and pourable, not stiff whipped cream.
