A visually stunning drip cake featuring a smooth, glossy water ganache drip with an optional edible gold dust shimmer, perfect for elegant celebrations.

Ingredients

2 teaspoons gold dust (or any edible color dust of your choice)

¼ teaspoon vegetable oil

6 ounces candy melts (choose your preferred color)

1 ounce water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake: Start with a freshly decorated and chilled cake. Ensure the cake is cold to help the drip set quickly.
  2. Make the Gold Paste: In a small bowl, combine the gold dust and oil until a thick paste forms. This will be used to line your piping bag.
  3. Prepare the Water Ganache: In a separate bowl, mix the candy melts and water. Heat the mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir until smooth.
  4. Assemble the Piping Bag: Coat the inside bottom area (about 2 inches) of your piping bag with the gold paste. This step adds a shimmering effect to the drips.
  5. Fill the Piping Bag: Carefully add the prepared water ganache mixture into the piping bag over the gold paste.
  6. Apply the Drip: Cut the tip of the piping bag and gently pipe the ganache over the edge of the chilled cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  7. Set the Drip: Let the ganache set for a few minutes until it firms up slightly.
  8. Final Touches: Once the drip has set, your drip cake is ready to be served and admired!

Notes

  • Use different colored candy melts to customize the drip color.
  • Add flavored extracts like vanilla, almond, or mint to the ganache for flavor variation.
  • Decorate the cake with fresh fruits, edible flowers, or themed toppers.
  • Store the cake in a cool, dry place or refrigerate to keep fresh.
  • Gently reheat ganache if it becomes too firm before use.
  • The gold dust is optional but adds a luxurious touch.
  • Suitable for vegan drip cakes with appropriate candy melts and gold dust.
