Sesame Chicken is a delicious and easy stir fry made with boneless chicken breast marinated in a flavorful sauce and then cooked to perfection. It’s a much tastier version of the mall food court favorite.

Ingredients

Marinade:

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup dry sherry
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic chili paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Chicken Coating:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Other:

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, diced
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Making the Sauce: In a bowl, mix together water, rice wine vinegar, sherry, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, garlic chili paste, and red pepper flakes. Whisk until well combined.
  2. Marinating the Chicken: Pour 1 cup of the sauce over the diced chicken in a container. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 24 hours.
  3. Coating the Chicken: Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Coat the marinated chicken in the flour mixture.
  4. Cooking: Brown the coated chicken in vegetable oil. Add the reserved sauce and simmer until thickened.
