Ingredients

Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened and cut into pieces
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (7 ounce) can chopped mild green chiles
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ground Beef Mixture: Heat a large soup pot over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until beef is browned and onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Add Spices and Cream Cheese: Stir in cumin and chili powder. Add cream cheese pieces and mix until melted and smooth.
  3. Combine Remaining Ingredients: Stir in beef broth, diced tomatoes, green chiles, cream, and salt. Heat on medium until warmed through, approximately 30 minutes. Do not boil.
