This Creamy Smoked Sausage Pasta is a quick and comforting meal perfect for busy weeknights. Tender kielbasa slices are browned to develop a smoky flavor, then simmered in a rich tomato and cream sauce flavored with garlic, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan cheese. Combined with perfectly cooked pasta, this dish is creamy, savory, and delightfully satisfying.

Ingredients

Sausage and Sauce

  • 12 oz package of Kielbasa, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Pasta

  • 16 oz box of pasta (any preferred shape)

Garnish

  • Dried parsley
  • Additional Parmesan cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the kielbasa: Slice the kielbasa and brown it in a skillet over medium heat until slightly crisped and heated through. Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside.
  3. Prepare the sauce: In the same skillet over medium heat, add butter and minced garlic. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Then add the heavy whipping cream, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and Parmesan cheese. Stir well to combine. Season the sauce with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer gently for several minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Combine pasta and sauce: Add the drained pasta to the sauce and stir until well coated. Then mix in the browned kielbasa slices evenly throughout the pasta.
  5. Serve: Plate the creamy smoked sausage pasta, then top with extra Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of dried parsley for garnish. Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • Feel free to use any pasta shape you prefer, such as penne, rotini, or spaghetti.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more salt, pepper, or garlic powder if desired.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half or milk for heavy cream, but the sauce will be less rich and creamy.
  • You can add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms to the sauce for extra nutrition and flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stove or in the microwave.
