This creamy and airy Cream Cheese Mousse is a simple yet decadent dessert made by whipping heavy cream and soft cream cheese together with powdered sugar and vanilla. Perfect for serving in glasses as a light finish to any meal, it pairs wonderfully with graham cracker crumbs, fresh berries, or chocolate shavings.

Ingredients

For the Mousse

  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream or whipping cream, cold
  • 1 cup (8 oz / 230 grams) cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup (4 oz / 120 grams) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Whip the cream: Using an electric hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip the cold heavy cream on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip the cream. Once ready, set aside.
  2. Beat the cream cheese: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese on medium speed until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue beating until the mixture becomes fluffy and well combined, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Combine cream and cream cheese: Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture using a rubber spatula, mixing until fully incorporated without deflating the mousse.
  4. Serve: Spoon or pipe the cream cheese mousse into serving glasses or small jars. Optionally, add a layer of graham cracker crumbs before the mousse, and decorate the top with fresh berries or chocolate shavings. Refrigerate the mousse until ready to serve for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature for a smooth mousse.
  • Do not over-whip the cream to prevent it from turning grainy or buttery.
  • This mousse can be prepared a few hours ahead and refrigerated.
  • For added texture, garnish with nuts or cookie crumbs.
