Ingredients

Bread:

  • 11/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (1 stick)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk

Apple Mixture:

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and chopped into small pieces

Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Glaze:

  • 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and flour an 8.5 x 4.5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar: Using a mixer, beat butter, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Add eggs and flour: Beat in eggs, then mix in flour and milk.
  5. Prepare apple mixture: Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and apples.
  6. Layer batter and apple: Pour half the batter, add half the apple mixture, swirl, repeat.
  7. Add topping: Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
  8. Bake: Bake for 45-55 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Glaze: Whisk together glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled bread.
