This luscious Chocolate Cream Cheese dessert combines rich dark chocolate with creamy, fluffy cream cheese for a smooth and decadent treat. Perfect as a quick and elegant dessert, it’s easy to prepare with simple ingredients and requires no baking. Serve chilled topped with fresh berries, chocolate shavings, or shredded coconut for a delightful finish.

Ingredients

Chocolate

  • 3.5 oz (100 grams) Dark chocolate bar or chips

Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 1 cup (8oz/230 grams) Cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup (4oz/120 grams) powdered sugar, sifted to remove lumps
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅛ teaspoon sea salt
  • 3 tablespoons Milk (add a bit more for a lighter consistency)

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate: Fill a medium saucepan with about 3cm (1 inch) of water and bring it to a very gentle simmer over medium heat. Place a heatproof bowl snugly over the saucepan without touching the water. Roughly chop the chocolate if using a bar, add it to the bowl, and allow it to melt, stirring regularly until smooth. Remove the bowl from the heat and set aside. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in the microwave in short intervals of 10-15 seconds, stirring after each until fully melted. Be careful not to overheat as chocolate can seize quickly.
  2. Beat the cream cheese mixture: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, sea salt, and milk. Use an electric mixer or whisk to beat the ingredients together until the mixture is fluffy and well combined, about 1 minute.
  3. Combine cream cheese and chocolate: Pour the melted chocolate into the cream cheese mixture and gently whisk until fully incorporated and smooth. Avoid using an electric mixer at this step to prevent the mixture from becoming too stiff.
  4. Serve: Spoon the chocolate cream cheese into serving glasses or bowls. Optionally, top with fresh berries, chocolate shavings, or shredded coconut. Refrigerate until ready to serve for a chilled, luscious experience.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • Be cautious when melting chocolate; overheating can cause it to seize and become unusable.
  • You can adjust the milk quantity to achieve your desired consistency for the cream cheese mixture.
  • This dessert is best served chilled but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • For added texture, serve with your favorite cookies or biscuits.
